“Paesaggi Forti” is an exhibition and research project launched in 2019 with the aim of reimagining the Austro-Hungarian forts from World War I in the Italian region Trentino through a contemporary, territorial perspective.
A century ago, the Great War left deep imprints on the region, with military structures drastically reshaping the mountains. Those structures are now being partially reclaimed by nature. The exhibition offers an alternative narrative of the trasformed territory, intertwining architecture, ecological visions and history. “Paesaggi Forti” dissolves the boundary between landscape and architecture, presenting the territory as a fluid, interconnected network where past structures can act as pathways for new stories and future interpretations.
In-depth research into a geological approach of understanding territory and its architecture is the basis of two site-specific installations designed in collaboration with Landscape Architect Maddalena Moltrer.
