More than 40% of inert waste is generated by the construction and demolition industry. However, it exists a completely recyclable material suitable for construction: earth. Despite some designers are promoting the use of this material – and the technique of rammed earth – it remains unfamiliar to the majority of people.

In an engaging event held in the Lend neighborhood of Graz, Austria, Lara Nellißen and I conducted experiments with this material, which is often perceived as fragile and dirty. We encouraged everyone to come in touch with it and explore the rammed earth technique. The outcome was an intervention, that brought forth the earth and its symbolism, creating a collective space.

This project took place during the Lendwirbel week, an event aimed at revitalizing the streets of the Lend district to foster community cohesion and promote the arts.
