Project under the Bachelor Design and Art, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano

The project is featured on Italian design magazine FrizziFrizzi

The project was developed during the 2019 European election campaign, a period marked by the significant rise of the populist party in Italy. “In Soldoni” envisions a dystopian Italy under a populist government, that introduces the new currency – the Lira Nuova, whose iconography describes the ideology of the party.

Despite several years have passed, the project is more relevant than ever, as it addresses core issues in populist narratives that persist today: nationalism, attacks on LGBTQ+ and minority rights, the manipulation of the immigration issue, and the neglect of climate action in favour of inadequate production systems.

UV printing allows to simulate security features like watermarks, embossed details, and micro patterns. When viewed under magnification, these patterns reveal subversive symbols that critique populist values.
